As the 1970′s revival really takes off for 2011, we see a major return of the flared women’s trousers. An ideal alternative look for those ladies who don’t like skinny style jeans, this style of trouser will suit almost any body shape. The trick to wearing flared trousers is to be aware of your body shape, as this will determine which style you should choose.
If you have a pear shaped body, these retro style trousers will really help to balance out your body as they sit wider from the knee onwards, giving the impression of a more slender frame. There is a difference to wearing flared trousers and trousers which are baggy, so make sure you choose the right style to suit you. Baggy trousers tend to just like you have not taken any time with your look, while flared trousers are much more classy and elegant. Ladies with slender frames will also look great in a pair of flared trousers, as they will flatter you in all the right places.
Ladies who are quite petite, should ensure the trousers only have a modest flare, as otherwise they will drown the body and make it appear smaller than it is. Taller ladies will be able to wear trousers which are really flared, without it being detrimental to your look. If you want to create a further slimming effect, high waisted flared trousers will make the stomach area appear flatter, whilst a small belt will also help to accentuate the waist area. Flared trousers worn in darker colours will also help in slimming down the body.
These styles of trousers come in many different fabrics, including denim, which is another key trend to look out for. As this is a look from the 1970′s, it is a good idea to mix it up with a more modern style top, which you can tuck into your trousers for an even better look. As the trousers are flared, it is a good idea to wear a top which is quite tight fitting, as this will help you to balance out your whole look. A baggy top worn with this style of trousers will make your outfit appear a bit too casual and thrown together. Wear a wardrobe essential biker jacket over the top, for a style which will ensure you stand out from the crowd.
No matter what your body shape, it is best to wear your flared trousers with a pair of heels, as this will elongate your body and add inches onto your frame. This is especially the case for petite ladies, as it will give you a bit of a boost and will also give a slimmer and more balanced out body frame.
The good thing about this revival is that it is one which will more than likely last for a while and will no doubt come back round again, as it has previously, so it’s an ideal new investment for your wardrobe.

Going to an interview can be a stressful time for many. Try to feel comfortable by wearing something that will make you look professional, whilst giving a good impression to the interviewer. It makes sense to dress your best at an interview even if the job you are applying for doesnâ??t require this. First impressions are lasting ones, so make yours good.Â
Try before
The classic mistake that everyone makes is to rush and put something on an hour before theyâ??re set to leave, feeling uncomfortable and simply just not looking great. Always try on different clothes the night before, so that you can be prepared in the morning and you know what you want to put on, without rushing and panicking, it is not the best way to start your day.
The Classic Suit
You canâ??t go wrong wearing a classic ladies suit. Choose a colour that suits you, the best suits are usually black, gray or navy blue. Button up your suit jacket to show just a tiny section of your blouse. Make sure that your suit is the right size for you as you donâ??t want it to be too tight and restricting. You should be able to move your arms freely.
The Blouse
Wear a different coloured blouse underneath your suit jacket. Go for a crisp white coloured one to really stand out against your pucker suit. If you donâ??t think you suit white, then opt for a grey coloured one. This will look great against a dark black suit.
Skirt or Suit?
If youâ??re not sure whether to wear a skirt or suit trousers, try both combinations on first, and see what you look most comfortable in. If you do wear a skirt, make sure that it is long enough and the correct size, so that when you sit down it is not too tight; making you feel uncomfortable.
Shoes
Donâ??t wear 4 inch heels that you cannot walk in, there is nothing stopping you from wearing heels; just wear something that is comfortable for you and that you can get along in. There would be nothing worse than tripping over in front of your interviewer. Failing that, if you donâ??t feel comfortable wearing heels then opt for flat shoes. They will still look perfect and be the final touches to your suit. If you do wear flat shoes, make sure your trousers do not drag.
Jewellery
Make sure you keep your jewellery to a minimum. There is nothing worse than moving your arms and constantly hearing your jangly bracelets making a noise.
Handbag
Carry a portfolio along with you to make you look ultra professional. Even if it just has your notebook and pen inside, youâ??ll feel prepared and look the part.
Perfume
This may not be an obvious one, however it is fairly important. Donâ??t overdo your perfume, thereâ??s nothing worse than the interviewer getting a headache because your perfume is so heavy. Remember that you canâ??t always smell it on yourself as much as others can smell it on you. Less is more ladies.
As the Winter weather descends, it can sometimes be difficult to know what clothes to wear to the office. Gone are the skimpy tops and heels from the summer, and out come the winter woollies. You want to find clothes which are appropriate for work, will keep you warm, but are also stylish enough to keep you looking good over the season. Luckily fashion designers have been working extra hard for us, and have came up with loads of gorgeous outfits to wear for work, over the winter.
If you enjoy wearing dresses to work, you can still wear these, even when the weather is cooler. Empire line and shift dresses are both styles which are very trendy this season, and are great styles for hiding any problem areas you want to cover up. The grey shift dress with black patent belt pictured above is a particularly versatile choice. Leather is one of the key trends for autumn/winter, so a leather dress, particularly in a camel colour, will look fabulous for wearing to the office. A comfortable knitted dress is another option for wearing to the office. If you choose to wear a dress over the Winter, you can’t really go bare legged, or you’ll end up freezing. Instead, wear a pair of warm, knitted tights for protection against the cold.
An alternative to a dress for work during the winter season, is a skirt. Styles such as pencil and leather, are highly trendy at the moment, and will look good with a blouse tucked in. A crisp white blouse, animal print or camel coloured, will keep your style fresh and fashionable. There are also lots of long sleeved tops options for wearing with your skirt. Add a pair of tights to keep your legs warm and cosy.
A long sleeved blouse or top, will also go well with a pair of everyday trousers, for an alternative look for the office, which will keep you warm. An oversized knitted jumper will also work well with a pair of trousers for work.
With any of these looks you can add a capelet or a warm winter coat for protection from the cold. A long, tweed or duffle coat, are ideal for wearing to the office, to keep the heat in, while maintaining your smart appearance. As camel is one of the key trends for this season, you can wear this colour for your winter coat, to keep you looking stylish.

Wedge boots and kitten heels are also stylish options, but may not be suitable if you are wading to work through the snow. You can always wear boots to get to work, and change into a pair of slinky heels when you get there.
To complete your look for the office, you can add accessories such as a scarf and gloves. Leather gloves are a good choice to keep you looking smart, and a long knitted scarf, will ensure you are wrapped up warm for freezing conditions.
We all tend to get stuck in a rut when it comes to the attire we wear for work, pulling on the same trouser suit day after day and it can become a little boring and monotonous. Luckily, there are lots of alternatives to the trouser suit, to keep your style trendy and stop you getting fed up with your look.
Pencil, tulip and a line are al great everyday skirts are all options which will flatter your figure, no matter what your body shape and can be teamed up with a plain or patterned blouse. Styles include short, long and ¾ length, so you can mix and match your outfit with your skirt. White blouses are an essential for the wardrobe, and will keep you looking fresh and smart for the office. A tailored ruffle blouse will look fantastic tucked into a pencil skirt. There are also plenty of stylish tops as an alternative to the blouse, with animal prints being very current at the moment. Complete your look with a fitted jacket, such as a blazer, which is very stylish this season, or wear a chunky knitted cardigan during the cold weather.
Waistcoats are also trendy at the moment, and can be worn with a smart blouse and skirt, or a pair of everyday work trousers, for the ultimate outfit for the office. This look is a great alternative to the standard trouser suit, and will keep you looking smart and sophisticated.
If you prefer to wear a dress to work, there are lots of styles which will make the most of your figure. Tailored check, shift, empire line and pencil dresses, are all flattering options, and 2 in 1 pencil dresses are a stylish design this season. Black colours will instantly knock inches of your body, and camel will keep your look current and trendy. During the colder months, a knitted dress will be sure to keep you well insulated and cosy over the autumn and winter seasons. Wear a waist belt to instantly update your look, and enhance your body shape.
If you are lucky enough to have a slim figure, then a jumpsuit is very fashionable this season, and is a great alternative to the trouser suit. Jumpsuits come in all different styles, include wide leg, ruched sleeves and a deep v-neckline. Team it up with a pair of small heels, for a look you can wear everyday.
Tailored shorts are another alternative option for the office, and will look fabulous with a blouse or top and a pair of black tights. Accessorise with a belt, to create a sophisticated and stylish look.
With any everyday work outfit, keep your accessories minimal, and make sure you stick to an outfit which you feel comfortable in and will flatter your body shape. There are plenty of options out there to keep your look fresh and up to date, and you can mix and match these, so you can still look great even if you are on a budget.
The Little Black Dress, or LBD, is every girls wardrobe essential and is a great outfit to dress up or down, depending on the occasion. Not only will the colour create an all over slimming effect, but it is also a dress you can wear time and again.
The trick to accessorising your LBD, is to tailor it to the situation you will be adorning it. For example, if your dress is being worn for an everyday occasion such as work, then you might want to wear a smart suit jacket over the top. It would also be advisable to keep your jewellery simple, and wear flat or small heeled shoes with or without tights, depending on the weather. A small handbag will top the look off nicely. The same rules would apply if your wearing your Little Black Dress to a job interview. Keep all accessories simple, and make sure you are wearing a black bra. Any other colour will only spoil your sophisticated look.
If you are wearing your LBD to an important event, such as a ball or black tie type occasion, then this is the time to really glamorise your look. Again, stick to wearing a black bra, and try to find one which will suit the type of dress you are wearing. You might want to opt for strapless or removable strap designs, depending on the style of your dress. Unsightly bra straps will compromise your gorgeous look, and make you stand out for all the wrong reasons. Jewellery for these types of occasions should be bit more adventurous than for everyday wear, although not to over the top. A charm bracelet and classic silver earrings are both options which are very stylish at the moment.
Heels for a formal event like this, should be a bit higher than for everyday wear, but not too high that you are hobbling and have a feeling of discomfort. Stick to shoes you know you can walk in, but have a sparkle to them. The good thing about black is that most colours will go with it, white, red, you name it. Why not invest in a clutch bag in a metallic silver colour, very trendy for this season. Finish the look off with a scarf, shrug or bolero in wonderful olive green or deep red/purple colours, for a look which will ensure you stay glamorous and stylish all night long.
If your Little Black Dress is joining you on the dance floor, then you can afford to experiment a bit more with it. Large high heeled shoes or knee high/thigh high boots, will suit this type of occasion, especially with patterned or fish net tights. Chunky accessories such as a waist enhancing belt, or pieces of jewellery, will help to create a funky look for those wild nights out.
Team up your LBD up with a pair of flip flops, oversized hat and sunglasses, for that perfect, understated look on the beach.
