Vintage styles have made a major comeback in the trend stakes this season, and are in huge demand for autumn and winter 2010.
A line style dresses were highly popular during the 1950′s, and they have made an explosive comeback again this season. The beauty of the a-line dress, is that it can work for any body shape. The cut of the dress is such that it makes the waist stand out and doesn’t cling too much to the problem areas such as the hips and thighs. The length is just around the knee, so it’s perfect for ladies of all different heights too.
Suede and leather skirts are also trends which date back to the 1950′s, and look gorgeous with a pair of knee high boots or heels. Patchwork is a great style for leather skirts this season.
Pencil skirts are also highly popular this season, and are a great look for the office with a blouse tucked in, or you can glam it up with a one shoulder top for a night out. A blazer or aviator style jacket will complete this look nicely.
Follow the leather trend this season, with some vintage leather. Vintage leather jackets, shorts and trousers, are all stylish pieces at the moment, and can be mixed with different colours for everyday looks and outfits for parties during the autumn and winter months.
There are some gorgeous knit styles on trend at the moment, which will keep you snug and warm during the winter months, without letting your style slip. Knitted jackets and chunky cardigans look great when teamed up with a waist enhancing belt. Wear these with a pair of trousers or skirt for a look you can wear everyday. Knitted dresses are also very fashionable this season, and are a great alternative for the office.
Another classic trend from the 1950′s, making a return this season, is lace. You can find lace on almost any fashion item, including dresses, tops, skirts, leggings and gloves. Lace can be a really romantic fabric, and is a very cute look for wearing during the day. Long lace gowns and skirts are perfect for those special nights out.
Women’s trousers in wide leg styles are a great vintage fashion for this season, and suit any body shape. There are so many different fabrics for this style of trousers, that you can wear them anywhere and any time. Wear darker colours if you want to slim down the lower half of your body, together with a tight or enriched coloured top, to draw attention to this area. A pair of wide leg trousers with a blouse, is a great look for the office.
Brocade is another vintage style, which has been seen recently during Fashion Week and is a huge statement piece at the moment. Brocade is a look which will instantly updated your outfit, whether you are wearing a dress, skirt, trousers or a winter jacket. One wardrobe essential in this trend will be enough to let you mix and match with other pieces and trends.
As spring gradually leads into summer the weather is still somewhat undecided. Often the sun is shining and it is lovely and warm in the morning and then by the time the afternoon comes the sun has disappeared and the weather becomes grey and cloudy, leaving everyone feeling a little bit chilly to say the least. As a direct result of this many women are left ever so slightly confused in the morning when it comes to making a decision about what to wear that day. No one wants to dress too summery and then be left feeling cold later in the day whenever the sun disappears. Similarly they donâ??t want to opt for anything too heavy and be left feeling much too hot later on. It seems trying to find a happy medium is quite difficult.

However there are several options available to women which should help them avoid encountering either of the aforementioned situations. The first thing that women should consider is layering, this will allow small items of clothing to be added or removed when necessary in order to reach the right temperature. Although it is advisable that care is taken to ensure that each the items worn is somewhat lightweight, this will not ensure that the wearer does not become too hot be also means the removed items can be easily stashed away. If, for example, a woman is out and about she will ultimately have to carry any excess garments so the lighter they are the better.

A further option is teaming a nice summer dress with a cardigan or light weight jacket. The summer dress will be the perfect option for whenever the sun is shining whilst the cardigan or jacket will prevent the wearer from feeling the chill when the sun disappears. Similar to the previous option this option gives the wearer the opportunity to add or remove the cardigan as is necessary. A cardigan is often preferable to a jacket as it can be stowed in a handbag quite easily.
Crops and capri style trousers should also be considered in the event of interchangeable weather, as if worn in the right way they do not need to look too summery, making them perfect for when the sun goes away. Crops and capri trousers are also a great option as they can easily be worn to the office without looking too out of place. What is more crops and capri trousers can also be worn in a much more casual and social setting. In addition these styles of trousers are often very comfortable making them not only a stylish option but also a practical one too.
All of the aforementioned options provide women with a degree of flexibility when dressing for interchangeable weather. Although each of the options represent practicality they can also be very stylish options if the right garments are selected.
Buying the right womens trousers can be a bit of a minefield. There are so many different aspects to consider including the cut, the fit, the length and what type of fastening to choose. It may take a little time and effort but once you find that perfect pair of trousers, it will be well worth it. You will have a great pair of everyday trousers that you can combine with all sorts of tops for a chic daytime or work outfit. The right pair of trousers will flatter your figure and is a great practical option for everyday wear. It can also help to make you look slimmer, if that is what you want. A beautiful fitting pair of trousers are also the perfect solution to all of your work wear woes, for a much smarter look, just add a jacket.
Finding the right style
Fabric – a fabric that drapes and hangs well is essential for a good pair of trousers. Looks for a thick fabric with a little stretch for comfort.
Pockets – pockets can be useful but beware of side pockets as they can distort the hang and shape of the trousers. If you do decide on a pair of trousers with side pockets, don’t put very much in them as it will cause an unsightly bulge. The pockets may also gape when you sit down.
Front – look for darts and pleats in the front of the trousers and how flat they are. A flat fronted pair of trousers is probably the most flattering as it helps to make the stomach look flatter.
Waistband – a wider waistband tends to lie flatter than a thin waist band and also has a corset line effect holding the stomach in.
Leg width – straight legged trousers are the most flattering style for almost everyone. They are also a great classic style that will never go out of fashion.
Getting the right fit
Waist - It is absolutely vital that your trousers fit well on the waist or they will be uncomfortable and may not even do up. Even if you can manage to do them up and bear the discomfort a pair of trousers that is too tight on the waist will not look very good. The waistband will tend to sit too high on the waist causing a bad fit in other areas of the trousers. Similarly a pair of trousers that is too big on the waist will hang down. This can be remedied by a fairly simple alteration.
Waist height - you will find all sorts of trousers with waists that sit at different heights from really high waisted to hipster trousers. Waists that sit in about the middle or just below the belly button is the most flattering for most people.
Hips and thighs - a well fitting pair of trousers should not be too tight around the hips and thighs. The fabric should skim the hips and thighs and not crease too much across the hips of thighs. If they do crease then a bigger size is needed.
Rise -the rise or crotch is another important consideration for a pair of everyday trousers. Too high and the crotch will look unsightly, too low and it will look like you are wearing a misshapen pair of harem pants.
Leg length - think about which shoes you will wear before deciding on which trousers to get. For trousers worn with high heels the length can be slightly longer than those worn with flats. The most flattering length is just skimming the ground.
