According to prnewswire.com, Fashion retailer Debenhams has launched a new collection over underwear which could eradicate muffin tops and visible panty lines.

A recent customer survey showed that the most common problems in women’s clothing are muffin tops, visible panty lines and bras where the cup size is too small, causing women to look like they have four breasts.

Two of these problems could be solved after the launch of ‘invisible’ high-tech knickers. When a tight dress is worn, the new underwear creates no apparent muffin top. The only previous option in getting this smooth look with a dress was to go commando.

Celebrities including Britney Spears and the members of Girls Aloud have been sent the new knickers to allow them to wear a silky black dress and look fabulous. Women will now be able to wear clothes that fit exactly how the designer intended.

Head of lingerie buying at Debenhams, Annette Warburton, said:”State of the art technology has become an essential ingredient into a sterling pair of knickers. No longer will the outline of the dress be ruined by unsightly knicker lines and bulges.”

Womenâ??s underwear can be considered as an integral part of any outfit and therefore with that in mind, there are several things that women must think about before they purchase new underwear.

The first consideration should be the style of the underwear.  The style of the underwear should be chosen based upon the needs of the individual woman well as her body shape.   Some women may feel more confident about their body than others and consequently will choose different underwear from those women.  For women who feel less confident about their body shape there are great selections of underwear available which all body parts to appear smaller, flatter, firmer and on occasion lifted, as is the case with underwear which is designed to enhance the bottom area.  However, this underwear is not exclusive to those who feel less confident about their bodies.  In fact many women, including those who are happy with their figures, opt for this body hugging type of underwear when they must wear an outfit which is tailored and clings to their curves.  Although this type of underwear is not the most attractive of things to look at it, its worth should not be underestimated.

When considering the style of the underwear, it is also important to take into account the rise of the underwear.  This again will be directly affected by the preference of the woman in question and what she plans to wear with this underwear.  For those who like to jeans or other trousers which sit on the hips then a low rise style of underwear if advisable.  When trousers or skirts sit quite low on the hips it is not desirable to have underwear which sits quite high up.  However, if higher waisted clothes are to be worn there is no reason that high rise underwear cannot be worn.

The colour of the underwear should also be given adequate thought.  It is important not wear darker coloured underwear under light coloured clothing as this liable to show through, and be a source of embarrassment for the woman in question.  Rather, in such instances it is advisable to invest in white or flesh coloured underwear.  Furthermore, if the clothing to be worn is darker in tone then darker underwear should also be worn.

The fabric used in the underwear is another element that requires consideration.   This is of particular importance when clothes that are tight fitting are worn.  Some fabrics are more forgiving of little lumps and bumps than others.  Underwear made from Lycra material would not be the ideal choice when wearing a snug dress.  The fabric chosen will also dictate the comfort of the woman, so it should be given careful thought.

The final factor to take into account is the fit of the underwear.  Similar to fabric this not only affects a womanâ??s appearance but also her comfort levels.  It is important to ensure t he right fit of underwear is bought.  If the underwear is too big it can make the ladies bottom appear shapeless and saggy.  However, if the underwear is too tight the woman can appear larger than she in fact is.  In addition to this if the right fit is not found the woman will not feel comfortable, which directly impacts on her confidence levels.

Many people consider underwear to be something of a necessity and therefore often think that the underwear they wear is not important, and whilst this statement may have been true in the past, it is no longer the case today.  In actual fact, womenâ??s underwear is now increasingly more being considered as an important garment, with more and more women giving careful consideration as to which underwear to purchase.  It seems apparent that underwear is almost becoming considered more as a fashion accessory rather than as merely a functional item.

When shopping for underwear it is possible to become overwhelmed with all the types, styles and brands of underwear which are available on the market.  However, the mere choice and selection of underwear should not inspire fear in women but rather it should be considered as a positive thing.  Women should embrace all that is available to them, within this particular market, as previously there was little choice and they had to just take what they were given.  However, gone are the days when the â??one size fits allâ? philosophy was credited to underwear.  In fact the great variety of underwear which is now available means that each and every woman should be able to find underwear that is tailored to their tastes, size and needs.

When purchasing new underwear the one key thing that all women must bear in mind is the outfit with which they shall be wearing the underwear.  Giving consideration to the outfit means that the field of options available to each woman is narrowed.  For example for those women who are attending a formal event and evening dress and are perhaps worried about any lumps or bumps showing through their dress, then underwear which minimise such problems would be ideal.  However, even this particular segment of the market has many options.  There is underwear available which reduces the appearance of tummies, whilst other underwear can make a ladyâ??s bottom appear smaller and other underwear and make waist size appear reduced.  Thus before purchasing new underwear each and every woman should have a clear of the outfit with which she plans to wear the underwear and in addition to this an understanding as to the problem she wants the underwear to solve or the function she wants it to undertake.

It is imperative that women take this ethos on board, as purchasing the wrong underwear or teaming the wrong underwear with a particular outfit can be disastrous.  In todayâ??s day and age women should consider underwear to be a key element of an outfit and give as much consideration as to the underwear they should wear as to the dress or trousers they will wear.

If you are a woman who is over 50, you have probably heard all the old standard fashion advice for ‘mature’ women. Wear turtlenecks, they cover up wrinkled necks. Wear your skirts below your knee, it’s more age appropriate.  Oh and letâ??s not forget the classic, â??you are too old to wear long hairâ?, it allegedly ages you.

The list goes on. However, today’s 50-plus woman does not have to necessarily give up her sense of style just because she had another birthday. Here are some suggestions to help you dress to make you look and feel good about yourself regardless of your age:

Be Confident in Yourself

Wear your confidence like a designer gown. You have lived enough life that you are knowledgeable, experienced and can believe in your own self worth. Furthermore, you have earned the right to trust your own taste and judgment. If it feels right to you, it probably is. Try not to let anyone dictate what your personal style must be simply because you have passed a certain stage in life.

Know your body, flaws and all!

Yes, your body has changed over the years. Your arms may not be as firm as they once were, gravity has inevitably taken its toll and areas have drooped south a little. So, yes, you may have to change your fashion strategies a touch. Nevertheless, that certainly doesn’t mean you are suddenly sentenced to live the rest of your life in drab colours, baggy clothes with and general have no style at all. It just means you need to think about ways to disguise the â??problemâ?? areas and accentuate your assets. For example if you have developed like many women sagging in upper arm department, then simply add a light cardigan in summer or a shrug or jacket in the cooler months.

If you are bothered by widening hips, accent the top half of your body with shirts or sweaters with rich colour, v-necks or vertical stripes and de-emphasize the lower half with solid, dark colours. An A-line skirts or wide-legged trousers are perfect in helping minimize this issue.

Invest in Well-Fitting Undergarments

This area is vitally important and not something to neglect even for a second. Naturally, gravity does take its toll on our bodies, despite our efforts. Nevertheless, womens underwear that fit correctly and do their job properly are the solution. Indulge yourself and go have a bra fitted by a professional. You’ll be amazed at what a difference a bra that fits correctly can make in your figure. It is a well known fact that most women do not buy the right bra for their body type.

The same goes with your knickers. The dreaded VPL (visible panty line) is unattractive on anyone regardless of age, no matter what their age. If your bottom or tummy is a slightly less tight than is used to be, do not wear tight knickers that cut in to you. There is a common misconception that tight underwear will hold everything in, however if anything it only emphasizes the problem areas. A well-fitting pair of briefs is a good option for many people, and essential wardrobe attire.

In conclusion, if you are over 50, do not fall victim to â??out of date fashionâ?? pushed upon the mature women. Your love for fashion is still very much alive, so indulge it!!
