Every woman knows that she has a different set of clothes for different occasions and it’s no different when it comes to women’s underwear.

It’s important to have some pieces in your underwear draw that come out on special occasions and some that you have for everyday use. For example, have underwear that will be supportive throughout the day so you can feel comfortable during your working day, and then a set of small’s ideal for the Gym or exercise.

Being older doesn’t mean that you have to wear flesh tones and supportive knickers all the time, it’s important to remember that you can still be sexy and comfortable with a wide range of bras and knickers available from online and high-street stores up and down the country.

Always have a beautiful black set of undies for special occasions, wearing black underwear can make you feel sexy and stylish as well as being ideal for most occasions, especially that little black dress you wear to social events that turn heads.

Now with a string of designers launching ranges of supportive underwear aimed at nipping and tucking our problem areas without the need for surgery, there should be no excuse for ensuring you look and feel great in you undergarments.

According to prnewswire.com, Fashion retailer Debenhams has launched a new collection over underwear which could eradicate muffin tops and visible panty lines.

A recent customer survey showed that the most common problems in women’s clothing are muffin tops, visible panty lines and bras where the cup size is too small, causing women to look like they have four breasts.

Two of these problems could be solved after the launch of ‘invisible’ high-tech knickers. When a tight dress is worn, the new underwear creates no apparent muffin top. The only previous option in getting this smooth look with a dress was to go commando.

Celebrities including Britney Spears and the members of Girls Aloud have been sent the new knickers to allow them to wear a silky black dress and look fabulous. Women will now be able to wear clothes that fit exactly how the designer intended.

Head of lingerie buying at Debenhams, Annette Warburton, said:”State of the art technology has become an essential ingredient into a sterling pair of knickers. No longer will the outline of the dress be ruined by unsightly knicker lines and bulges.”

The notion of having a large bust will seem like a dream for many women, but in fact it can cause a lot of physical and psychological problems for those who have them. They may gain a lot of unwanted attention from the opposite sex, and can also have a severe effect on the body, causing back problems, amongst others. Unless you are opting for cosmetic surgery, there are not many ways of making them smaller, but there are options to make them appear smaller than they are.

Firstly, you should make sure you wear a bra which fits properly. There are many ladies who wear ill-fitting bras, and for bigger busts, it can cause them to look even bigger. Most ladies clothing shops will offer bra fitting services, so you should go and get measured to ensure you are wearing the correct size. This will also help your bust to be supported, which is particularly important for those who are heavier on top. There are also options of minimiser bras, which help to create the appearance of a smaller bust.

To draw attention away from the bust, it is important not to wear clothes which are too tight, as these will only accentuate this area. Subsequently, it is also better to avoid clothing which is too baggy, as this will also make the area look larger. Always try tops on before buying them, to make sure you are wearing the correct size. The layering of clothing can also help, as a means of ‘strapping’ down the bust area, and giving it a smaller appearance.

When choosing styles of tops and jumpers, it is better to avoid high necks or turtle necks, which will draw attention to the area. Low scoop and deep v-neck styles are very flattering for bigger busts, and are styles to look out for in dresses too. If you still feel like you want some additional help in reducing your bust size, then a camisole top worn under your v-neck will help to achieve this. It is also best to stay clear of strapless tops and dresses, as they will cause attention to be focused on this area

With large busts, it is also better to avoid patterns and colours which will draw attention to the area. Keep your top half relatively plain, and wear patterns and brighter colours on your bottom half, as this will keep attention to this area. Dark colours, particularly black, worn on top will slim this area down, and give the appearance of a smaller bust. If you choose to wear stripes, then make sure they are vertical and not horizontal. Horizontal stripes will make any area looker bigger. If you wear a blouse, then opt for one which sits quite tight at the waist, but looser at the bust. When choosing a dress, you should be aware that empire line and wrap style dresses are the best options to flatter bigger busts.

To finish of your look, wear jewellery which doesn’t hang too long, as this will draw attention to the bust area.

Choosing the right underwear to go under your party dress is such an important part that many people forget. Wearing the wrong underwear can be a very embarrassing mistake. If it means you have to go out and buy an alternative bra and knickers then do so, you want to feel great. But whatever you do, always make sure that you pick the correct fit and style over fashion.

The Right Fit

Make sure you get yourself measured, so that your bra will fit perfectly and not be too big or too tight, this will only alter the shape of you silhouette.

Colour

Most people know that it makes sense to wear a white bra under a white dress or a black bra under a black dress. So make sure that you do too, otherwise there will be a strange looking shadow under your white, silky dress if you forget to put some white underwear on. Also, if you think itâ??s ok to wear pale underwear under a black dress, just because you canâ??t see it, then youâ??re wrong. When having pictures taken the flash from the camera will automatically pick up the paler colour under your dress.

 The Style of your Bra

The style of your bra will vary depending on the style of the dress you wear. Nowadays you can buy one bra that can be worn in many different ways including; halter neck, strapless and kiss cross.

If you are going to be wearing a strapless dress, then it is essential that you have a strapless bra to go with it and make sure that you have enough support. If you are looking at wearing a one shoulder dress, then you can either opt for a strapless bra or even a bra where you have just one strap, this will give you extra support. If you choose to wear a dress with really thin straps, then itâ??s recommended that you purchase a bra with clear straps, this will make sure that you donâ??t see your bra strap under your dress. If you are unable to get a clear strap bra, try to get a bra the exact colour of your dress â?? this will make it a lot less obvious.

Corset

There are also bras out there that come in the style of a corset, which give you the support whilst also having a wider strap which comes lower down your back. This will allow you to wear a dress with a scooped back, and still have the support you need.

Knickers â?? more is better

When we say more is better, we mean that if you are wearing a tighter fitting dress then opt for bigger style knickers. Likewise, if your dress is silky and fairly thin then wear knickers that will cover you up.

The Style of your Knickers

People often stand and stare looking at their mirror and can see a line of where their knickers are. If you want to avoid this, then invest in a pair of seamless style knickers, Sloggi women’s underwear is a good option. They are thin and silky and come in various colours and are perfect for wearing under dresses. They have no seams, which will give you the smooth effect. Â Shape wear is also a great way to guarentee a smooth silhouette. You could try the very popular Trinny and Susannah shapewear.

Plus sized ladies want to look and feel elegant in what they wear, whilst drawing attention to their best assets. Donâ??t feel that you canâ??t wear that Little Black Dress to a party because it has no sleeves; feel confident in what you wear.

Accentuate your assets
To make the most of your best assets, mix and match a little. You could wear a polka skirt with a plain black top which would draw the attention away from the bust line, similarly a polka dot top with a plain black skirt to take the eye away from perhaps larger hips. The darker colour on the bottom of this black ivory animal rose print top (pictured above)Â is also great for slimmimg the hips.

The Ideal Fit
Try not to look at the style of clothes, but focus on its fit. A better fitting top will flatter your shape, rather than you trying to squeeze into a smaller size.

Avoid baggy clothes at all cost
Try to stay away from baggy clothes, they only alter your shape and make you look wider in the places where you are actually a perfect size.

Dark colours
Donâ??t feel that you have to wear darker colours constantly to make you feel smaller. Clothe your best assets with a brighter colour. Or try accessorizing with different coloured shoes to take the feeling away from the â??all black look.â??

Soft Fabrics
Go for soft fabrics that are figure hugging, but allow you to move in a free manner. Clingy, stretchy material will only make you feel larger as it will cling to unnecessary parts of your body.

Various Sizes
Try to remember that different shops have different manufacturers, so their sizes will differ considerably. Donâ??t worry if your size varies from one shop to the next.

The Perfect Dress
If you are looking for a dress for that perfect night out or party, then look at getting a one-piece dress, they give the appearance of looking sleeker than say a camisole with a long length skirt.

V-Necks
It is commonly known that a round necked top makes your bust look larger. If you want to make this area look smaller, then go for V-Neck styled tops which use the vertical line and take your eye away from the bust area.

Camisoles
Wearing a camisole top underneath a shirt or blouse will smooth out any bulges which you donâ??t like seeing.

Body Slimmers
Whilst most people find body slimmers not very flattering, they too help to smooth out any unwanted bulges.

Sleeveless or not?
Donâ??t be worried about wearing a sleeveless top, showing just a little bit of skin can be very attractive on a lady, so donâ??t dismiss the thought of wearing a sleeveless dress out. If you are a little more conscious about it then why not have a short bolero jacket or shrug over the top, to cover up that tiny bit of skin.

Choosing the right women’s underwear can be tricky, but it is well worth spending a little extra time and effort on this area. Wearing the wrong underwear not only looks bad, but it can also be bad for your health and cause you problems in later life.

Many ladies feel uncomfortable about going to get themselves measured for a bra, but it is imperative that you do this, and it is actually completely painless. To get yourself properly measured, you can visit most department stores, and don’t worry, they have seen it all a million times before. The main areas to look out for are the band size, cup size, strap adjustment and also the appearance of the bra. An ill fitting bra can cause health problems, such as bad posture and can even hinder the circulation of blood around the area, as well as numbness in the arms.

We’ve probably all experienced the feeling of under-wire digging into us, but this can be highly dangerous as it can cause the scarring of breast tissues. It’s quite a simple process to get your size measured and it can also do wonders for your appearance. A thicker bra can inches onto your size and there are lots of options of push up bras which can greatly enhance your cleavage. When exercising, it’s important to wear a sports bra as this will protect your breasts, without causing discomfort during your work out. Wearing the correct colour is also important. Choose one which matches the colour of your outfit, i.e. a black bra with a black top or dress, or white with a white outfit. You can adjust the straps of your bra to make it more comfortable.

There is also now a wide range of bras which suit all different outfits, including halter neck and boob tubes, so there’s no need to have unsightly bra straps showing.

Choosing the correct pair of knickers is also important. You should be aware of your size, and not wear a pair which is too big or too small. They should also suit your outfit, for instance if you are wearing low cut jeans, then a low cut pair of briefs will look much better than a pair which rides above your jeans. They should not be visible to anyone else. Thongs are better for a smaller frame, and a visible pantyline is never a good style choice. Again, choose colours which match your outfit. There are also lots of briefs which will instantly fix your figure, and control the dreaded lumps and bumps. Trinny and Susannah recently brought out a range, which include magic bum, thigh and bum reducer, tummy flattening briefs, high waist thong, high waist shaping tight, body smoother and all in one body shaper. This range targets the main areas women tend to have problems with; tummy’s, bums and thighs. The briefs smooth down these areas, so are great for wearing under dresses and other tight fitting clothes. The idea is to create a slimmer silhouette, which will do wonders for your confidence. The range comes in various different colours, so you can mix and match, depending on your outfit. There are lots of other control pants which offer a similar remedy to ladies of all shapes and sizes.

Christmas is only just around the corner and it is highly likely that you will be attending at least one party over the festive period. You may well have started to put a little thougt into what sort of party dress or outfit you would like to wear. Perhaps you are attending a formal party or dinner at which it will be expected that you wear ‘black tie’ or a formal evening dress. Christmas parties are a great time to get dressed up and to make that extra effort when getting yourself ready. If you are going to a works party, it is a great way to show your colleagues how different you look when you get dressed up.

So once you have chosen a beautiful evening or party dress, you still have lots to do. You need to think carefully about shoes, accessories, hair make up and underwear. Each one of these aspects of your overall look can make or break it. A beautiful dress with the wrong accessories won’t look its best and the wrong shoes will just look, well, wrong.

Your underwear is a really important part of your outfit. It is like the foundation of a building that holds everything else in place. If you don’t get the foundations right then the whole building could fall down. Of course it is not quite as dramatic with a party dress but the right underwear can definitely make a dramatic difference.

Any dress that skims clings or drapes around the stomach, hips and thigh area can benefit from the addition of some shape wear. This will act as a support to your body, holding everything in and creating a streamlined silhouette which allows you dress to hang perfectly. Some shape wear also has the ability to make you appear (and your clothes fit) just like you have dropped a dress size.

The Trinny and Susannah high waister pants are a really affordable choice of control underwear. They start just under the bra line and finish mid thigh allowing them to smooth out your shape along the whole of you mid torso. The magic bum, tum and thigh reducer is also a good way of looking slimmer without even going near a gym. They keep any bulges under control ensuring that they do not stop your dress from hanging or draping correctly.

When choosing a bra to go with your party or evening dress you will need to think carefully about how it will work with the straps and the neckline of the dress and whether it will give the necessary support. For dressed with low backs, halter necks or no straps at all, there are a range of different bra styles which can be worn without being visible. You should also choose a bra that matches the colour of your outfit so if it does become visible it will not be too obvious.

As we enjoy the beautiful sunshine and summer weather, the autumn and winter may seem like a long way away, but the shops are already gearing up for the season ahead and filling there rails with lots of beautiful autumn and winter clothes. As usual there are plenty of different fashions and trends from which you can easily find a style that will suit your body shape, personal style and lifestyle.

Winter fashion is often dominated by talk of winter coats and party dresses and this year is no different. But for most of the designers this year, there collections have moved into a whole new era of wearability. Gone are the days when designers could design just for their own artistic pleasure. In these hard economic times their collections need to sell and this was clearly evident in the elegant and stylish clothes that were also really classic and wearable. This winter looks to be another season with plenty of neutrals and minimalism, yet again we can all safely stick to the saying ‘less is more’.

Maxmara has always led the way in this classic, neutral style exhibited in their luxurious camel coats that have always been incredibly popular. But there will also be some brights with a peppering of bold reds, mustard and lemon yellows and electric blues seen on the autumn winter catwalks.

There will be some new silhouettes for the autumn, well they are not exactly new as they originated in the fifties and have come back into fashion periodically ever since. The rise of interest in vintage clothing could well be responsible for this interest in pencil skirts and a line skirts with nipped in waists, both of which are perfect for an hour glassed shaped lady.

Womens trousers will be incredibly flattering this winter with boot cut and straight cut styles dominating. These trousers are great for women of any age and shape and do an amazing job of lengthening the leg.

There will also be plenty of romantic and faded florals, animal prints and lace in black, nude and even pink. Some times some or all of these looks will combined for an eclectic and bohemian look. This was clearly evident on the catwalks of Ralph Lauren, Kenzo, Paul Smith and Dries Van Noten.

Capes will be back in fashion, as will maxi dresses and maxi skirts. Ladylike handbags were also all over the catwalks and classic styles ruled. Waists were cinched with skinny belts and sky high heels were complimented by a new style of much more practical and wearable mid height heels.

For all the sensibility and classic style around for the autumn and winter, there is still some fun to be had. White fur was used to create yeti like outfits. There were also black and white fur coats, shaggy fur coats and glossy black fur for a dramatic and very warm look. There was also a dose of theatrical style which combined bright colours in a flamboyant and chaotic way. This look was unsurprisingly seen at Jean Paul Gaultier, Jean Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Dior amongst others.

Only a very few people what every their shape or size can boast to having a completely smooth silhouette. A lumpy silhouette can be caused by poor fitting women’s underwear, the way that you sit or stand or just the way that your body is. Getting the right underwear is key to a smooth silhouette in whatever outfit you choose to wear. Shapewear is the ideal way to keep that smooth and streamlined silhouette all day even when you are starting to get tired and stop holding your tummy in.

Although shape wear or control underwear is not the most glamorous looking underwear, it is a great basis for a very stylish outfit. Two of the most well known brands of ladies underwear for creating a smooth line are Sloggi and Trinny and Susannah. If you are looking for a slightly less control but a really comfortable pair of knickers that fit perfectly without any lumps or bumps, the Sloggi basic maxi brief is ideal. These are perfect for every day wear.  For a bit more control Sloggi also have a control maxi brief which has a  softly reinforced V-shaped front panel that gently smoothes and shapes the tummy. For a special occasion or a particularly clingy or tighter fitting dress, Trinny and Susannah have a range of magic and high waist pants which are actually shorts and slim, streamline and reduce the bum, tum and thigh areas. They not only change your shape but can also make you drop a dress size. Also as they reach right from the below the bust to just above the help to create a streamlined look for your whole outfit.

But why bother making all this effort when you can’t even see your underwear? you may ask. Well really the whole point of underwear is that it can’t be seen. If it is obvious in anyway either by sticking out from under your a clothing or by creating unsightly lumps or bumps, then it is ruining the look of your outfit. Good underwear will not only not ruin your outfit but it will positively add to it. Underwear is the foundation of any outfit and if you don’t get this layer right then there is little hope for the rest of the outfit. Shape wear works particularly well with very tight fitting or body con dresses but it is also important for looser fitting dresses as a smooth outline will help them to drape correctly. I will also be particularly beneficial when wear dresses that are bias cut, satin or jersey fabrics.

Depending on what you will be wearing the colour of your underwear is also important. For black clothes or evening wear, black underwear is the best choice as it will not show up underneath. For white or light clothes white underwear works well. For really sheer and slightly transparent clothing, flesh coloured underwear will ensure that no one even knows that you are wearing shape wear.

Dressing in a way which is not only reflective of your age and style but which also flatters your figure is often a difficult task to achieve. With so many boxes to tick many women tend struggle to find clothes which flatter their body. All too often women find an item of clothing that they like but when they try it on find that it doesnâ??t actually suit their body shape. Consequently a large number of women now believe that to wear something that accentuates their body in all the right places that they must sacrifice all of their style credentials. However, this is simply not true, there are a few simple tips which women should bear in mind when shopping for clothes which should ensure that they still dress in a way that compliments their body but which also ensures they look stylish.

It is common for petite women to want to appear taller but often a large number of such women struggle to find clothes which allow them to achieve this look. However, a top tip when it comes to this problem is wearing a block colour, as this will elongate the body and make it appear much longer than it actually is. When it comes to work wear, wearing a trouser suit which is all the one colour is the perfect solution. In addition to enhance the sense of height further it is highly recommended that trousers suits be teamed with a pair of high heels. Moreover the heels should be the same colour as the trousers being worn at the time, as the seamless flow of block colour will create the illusion that the wearer is much taller. However, if a woman is shopping for a dress it is still fairly easy to create a similar illusion, if it is a summer dress which to be purchased then a pair of nude shoes should be worn. Most women team summer dresses with the bare leg look so a pair of nude shoes will elongate the legs and make the wearer appear taller.

Meanwhile many curvaceous women strive to find clothes which make their bodies appear slimmer than they are. However, as such they often feel they cannot buy any item of patterned clothing but this is simply not true. Curvaceous women can wear patterns although care should be taken to ensure that the print is not quite small and not too fussy. A delicate floral pattern would be great for the spring/summer months as this is very on trend this season.

What is more investment in a good pair of underwear can also be very beneficial. Depending on the body shape of the woman in question it is possible to buy underwear which tackles the problem area and makes it appear flatter or perkier than it actually is.

Women should be aware than dressing to flatter your body does not mean that you have their sense of style, rather it possible to marry the two together.
