There are lots of ways to look stunning in plus-size fashion – it doesn’t have to limit your wardrobe choices.

But there are some golden rules to stick by to make sure you look elegant and beautiful without feeling uncomfortable.

Everyone has a favourite part of their body – whether it’s legs, chest, neck or a great smile. Make sure you flaunt your favourite bits – don’t be scared to show off your legs in a fitted skirt or classic shorts, and carry it off with confidence.

Having two or three precious outfits – perhaps occasional wear that you feel really good in – can be a great wardrobe staple, and can stop you worrying about what to wear if you’re suddenly invited out.

Don’t go for anything figure-hugging which is going to make you feel self-conscious – if you want to wear something tight, accessorise to make the look work for you. But don’t over-accessorise – if you’re wearing bold, bright colours, keep jewellery to a minimum. Or if you’re going for something plain and simple, feel free to get creative with bangles, rings or earrings.

Whatever you do, remember to be yourself, and you’ll always look your best.

We are always looking at ways to make ourselves look slimmer and are trying to find clothes that are flattering as well as stylish.

Well here is a possible way to incorporate the two:

The high-waisted trouser with a belt:

The high cut waist of the two piece style is a great look for women with a pleasant curve to their belly. Most women are self-conscious of their tummy’s and there are a lot of products available on the market to flatten and shape, and paired with high-waisted trousers achieving that more slender appearance should be easier.

You can get high-legged trousers in a variety of styles and colours to suit every shape and size and paired with a belt, it can give you that hourglass figure that will hide any troublesome area.

Go shop and see what you can find!

Musically number one best-selling artist Adele dominates the charts at the moment, but her style has usually been accredited to wearing black, black and more black, but according to a leading plus size women’s clothing house she is stepping out in more than just black.

As well as being a number one selling artist, Adele is also flying the flag for plus size ladies and has been seen recently modelling a beautiful range of clothing catered for the larger lady.

Her most recent change of style came in the form of a beautiful Tweed jacket with three gold trimmed buttons emanating the style and chic of Chanel.

The Fashion Queen, Anna Wintour herself took control of Adele’s clothing style for an hour, dressing her in a flash of citrus zest for the Grammy Awards.

So it’s certainly true that whatever your size or style you can find beautiful dresses that will make you look radiant as well as stylish, just follow in the footsteps of Adele!

Curvy girls around the UK can slip into summer looking fabulous thanks to the fabulous styles available on the high street and online. With a huge range of choice for all sizes and budgets, everyone can feel confident in their clothes this summer.

Women blessed with curves should showcase them with well cut clothes to highlight their figures. Nipped in waists will show off an hourglass figure, while tailored linen skirts that finish at knee or calf length are most flattering to legs.

Meanwhile ladies lucky enough to own a killer cleavage can take advantage of pretty off the shoulder low-cut tops to draw attention to this area and widen the shoulders â?? making hips appear smaller.

Plain colours or small delicate prints suit plus-size curvy figures best – avoid loud or large prints and make sure to accessorise with belts and jewellery to accentuate your assets further.

It’s perhaps one of the worst times of year for anyone who has a fuller figure and larger breasts to start thinking about digging out that swimsuit.

But now more retailers are recognising that more women are in need of swimsuits that cater for the plus size clothing range and are now designing alternatives to the dreaded bikini.

There are a lot of retailers specifically online that cater for women on an individual basis by offering swimwear with a range of cup sizes to suit even the largest of breasts.

No more are we confined to the basic all in one plain black swimsuit, but have the option of colour and design, either all-in-one or ‘tankini’ for those a little more daring.

A lot of plus size swimwear designers also incorporate underwire for the cups for extra support making sure you don’t have to worry about anything going south!

So why not start planning ahead now in-time for the summer, check out the major retailers to see what they have on offer and you might well be surprised with what you find.

If you still feel a little self-conscious then why not buy a sarong to cover up the bits you’re not entirely comfortable with, they come in all styles and colours, with many designers offering them in the same line as the swimwear!

Wal-Mart one of the largest discount chains in America have decided to scale back their electrical departments to make way for more plus-sized clothing according to the dailymail.co.uk.

Representatives from the company said that despite this the smaller section Wal-Marts would sell the same number of electronic products as gadgets continue to get smaller in size.

The adjustments come after a report that found 34.4 per cent of Americans were obese.

Official figures from a report conducted by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that 4.3 per cent of men were clinically obese compared with 7.6 per cent of women and a massive 15.5 per cent of children were overweight.

Rosalind Brewer, president of Walmart East, said: “It’s still a vibrant category but much smaller items are being sold.”

Following this we could see more stores this side of the waters catering for plus sizes more as the nation gets larger, watch this space.

According the research carried out by retail analyst Verdict, sales of plus size clothing is expected to grow 6 per cent in 2011, with one in four women buying plus size clothes.

In fact the report actually indicates that sales are expected to increase year-on-year for the next five years and will outperform the UK womenswear market by approximately 1.4 per cent.

These figures could be the wake-up call for many high street retailers to stock women’s dresses, trousers, tops and other garments in plus size to remain competitive and keep profits up.

Carly Syme, analyst at Verdict, who said â??Retailers are looking to expand their niche collections such as petites, maternity, and plus size to ensure growth and increase revenue. Our research has revealed that it is the plus size market that offers the biggest opportunities for growth. This year alone we expect the market to grow by 6.0 per cent  to £4.9 billion.â?

Summer is on its way and this year curvy girls have plenty of choice in flattering fashion.

With the average woman in the UK a size 14, designers are adapting women’s fashion to showcase women’s curves.

While voluptuous ladies might have previously been limited to certain shops, today most high street fashion goes up to at least a size 18.

Forever 21, the popular American store recently launched in the UK, with their flagship store in Birmingham. Their plus size line goes up to size 20 and encompasses some of the latest catwalk styles, adapted to hug those curves.

Here are some tips for curvy girls for standing out and looking fab this summer

-         Be a colourful chick. Forget the age old saying that black is slimming, no one wants to spend summer looking like they are attending a funeral. Have curvaceous confidence and wear some brights this summer.

-         Highlight your assets. Every woman knows their best body part, make sure you showcase them so everyone else notices too.

-         Accessorise. A fabulous necklace will draw attention towards that killer cleavage while a cute belt will nip you in at the waist.

Forget your big cotton belly smackers ladies, it’s time to get with the times and try something a little different with your undergarments this year.

The new 2011 fashion trend for the plus-size lady is lace lingerie matching the already popular lacy over-garments currently taking over the catwalks.

Lace can often emphasise your natural curves and can come in stretch to offer comfort as well as style.

For something a little different, try a daring lace corset, beautifully stylish and also very sexy. As well as the corsets you will see lace baby dolls making a big come-back this year as well as chemises. There will be an increase in designs of lace bras and panties and there will also be an increase in designers choosing lace for night-robes.

It is true to say that it will never go out of fashion or style but this year it is the definite must-have part of your wardrobe more than ever before.

Finding the right evening dress could be the difference between looking the bell of the ball or more like resembling the post-twelve o clock Cinderella.

However there are some easy ways to ensure that you look and feel your best by choosing the correct plus-size women’s dresses to suit every shape and size.

Always choose age appropriate dresses

It can make you look less classy if you choose a dress that was designed for a younger woman, it gives the impression you are not comfortable with yourself and can often look cheap and tacky. There are hundreds of shops on the high-street or online that offer beautiful age appropriate dresses for the plus-size lady.

Choose the Halter Neck

Halter Neck dresses are a must for any plus-size wardrobe. Halter Neck dresses allow you to flatter your arms and allow you to showcase your back. They take the attention off the larger body area by attracting the attention away from the main body area.

Short-dresses

This is another classic style dress for the plus-size lady, which allows the focus off the main body area and onto the legs. A great tip is to apply a light bronzer to the legs and wear heels to give the appearance of being taller and leggy, again diverting attention.

Colours and fabrics

Choose fabrics that flow quite easily and aren’t restrictive which gives the appearance of a thinner physique.

Always choose colours and styles that flatter the larger figure for example smaller prints rather than larger ones will help you look smaller framed rather than large bold prints the draw attention to your problem areas.

Whatever your age or style there is the perfect evening dress out there for you.
