There’s something of a headwear revival going on – helped in no small part by the veritable feast of fashion on show at the Royal Wedding.

Royal Ascot last week crowned the comeback of headgear, with a range of hats, hairpieces and fascinators sported by everyone from princesses to horse owners.

Fascinators really are the must-have at the moment, and are the perfect finishing touch for any occasional dress.

White is very much in fashion at the moment, along with lace, so if you want to add a trendy touch to your summer style, any lace headband could be an ideal start.

More formal occasions call for more formal fascinators – and with feathers also making their mark on catwalks worldwide, you could find a beautiful design that’s both elegant and fashionable.

For your Summer holiday this year, ensure you have the items to make you look and feel fabulous.  The key is to avoid over-packing by assessing exactly the essentials you need to bring your outfits together and keep you looking fashionable on your trip.

A stylish beach bag

This is an essential for those hitting the beach, to keep sunglasses, suncream, magazines etc in. Go for bright summer colours and make sure your bag is roomy enough – a overcrammed misshapen bag is never a good look.

A fabulous string of beads

Pick beads which will go with a few different outfits to save having to bring multiple items of jewellery – colours like gold will work well.

A linen jacket

A linen jacket will keep you warm on those cooler evenings, and with this versatile material you don’t need to worry about it getting creases in your handbag.

Here are a few tips for women in their fifties wanting to look their best with some expert fashion tips.

Threads magazine believes that with a few subtle changes, you can make yourself stand out from the crowd.

One of their top tips is that less can sometimes be more.

Do away with the mass amounts of rings, bracelets and beads and focus on good quality pieces of jewellery that bring out the best in you and your outfit.

When picking out some new clothes for a new outfit, diagonal lines can get the most out of your outfit encouraging the â??eye[s] to move up and downâ? according to the magazine.

Fitting is also very important in bringing out the best of your figure, as such when you are looking for new ladies fashion tops you should try and find women’s clothing that is fitted to the shoulder line.

This in turn can be improved with your women’s clothing being measured down to around the just below waist or high hip length in order to show off your figure best.

Reinforcing this point you should look for clothes that are not too tight, but are the right fitting, to ensure that you are well fitted and looking to your max.

We all know that the accessories to any look complete your outfit, but some people are left confused as to what accessories look good and what donâ??t look so good when wearing a party dress.

Take a look at the few tips and tricks below in order to accessorise your party dress perfectly.

The Little Black Dress (LBD)
Every woman should own a little black dress or two, but one of the hardest things is accessorising it.

The Strapless LBD
This is a great opportunity to wear dangly earrings or a bold necklace. However, donâ??t wear both go for the necklace or earrings. If you wear them together then you will lose the whole simplicity of the dress, which isnâ??t good. If you choose the necklace then wear simple stud earrings, so that you wonâ??t look too overdressed.

Chunky Bracelets
Accessorise your dress with chunky bracelets for a casual, chic look. If you want to feel more glamorous then go for dainty, sparkly jewellery.

Halter Neck Dresses
Try not to wear necklaces with a halter neck dress as they will only get lost within the material, only wear a necklace if the v-neck on your dress is quite low. Halter neck dresses accentuate your shoulders, so draw the attention upwards and accessorise with some dangling earrings. Wearing a simple flower or hair accessory will look great with a halter neck dress, as you are constantly drawing the attention upwards.

Pearls
Pearls are a great Parisian look. Try wearing a string of pearl beads around your neck, or double the strands to create two different lengths. Complete the look with pearl earrings.

The Perfect Bag
Choose a small embroidered or beaded or clutch bag. This will add extra detail and sparkle to any outfit.

Wrap
If its colder weather or you simply want something to cover your shoulders then go for a sheer wrap to wear around your shoulders. Go for a plain style, a nice velvet wrap would look great over a black dress and glitz it up a bit with different jewellery.

Non LBD
If you arenâ??t wearing an LBD to the party, then just think about the colour of the dress that youâ??re wearing:

Red â?? a red dress would look great with some black jewellery, a long string of black beads and black stoned earrings would look perfect.

Blue â?? with a blue dress, silver jewellery would look great.

Grey â?? a steel grey coloured dress would really benefit yourself if you contrasted it with black or silver dainty jewellery. If you go for black jewellery, then wear a chunky necklace and a bracelet to match.

Patterned â?? if youâ??re wearing a patterned dress, try and pick out a colour in the dress and accessorise with this colour jewellery. If not then wear silver or gold to complete your look.

Flowery â?? if your dress has flowers over it then add simple jewellery to the outfit. Steer clear of flowery jewellery otherwise you will be overdoing the look.

2011 is set to be a great year for fashion and beauty and will see many different trends returning to the shops that were popular many years ago. So if you still have that flowery dress or the polka dot cardigan you once hated; then get them out of your wardrobe and get ready for the season of style.

Letâ??s stay one step ahead and check out 5 of the best trends to look out for in 2011.

Simply Dotty

Youâ??ve guessed it, next year sees the rise of polka dots again, popular back in the 60s, 2011 brings back lots of dotty garments. If you are not confident enough to wear a polka dot dress to a party; be it a birthday party or garden party, then try accessorizing with smaller dotty designs. Go for a silky, polka dot scarf to wrap around a plain coloured top. A black and white scarf would look great over a plain black t-shirt or long sleeved top. For a totally different effect, why not tie a thin spotty scarf to your bag.

Nautical

What with nautical being popular last year, it is set to be popular once again next year. So if you already have some nautical style clothes, dig them back out of your wardrobe, ready for next year. Nautical stripes tend to be blue and white and red and white and this ladies striped top is an easy way to wear the trend; however donâ??t feel like you have to stick to those two colours. Now, we see black and white also becoming popular. Maybe some ballerina style pumps with a nautical style on would suit you, rather than the clothes garments.

Parisian

Mixing femininity with pretty pastel colours will be another big hit next year. Try accessorising with decorated extras such as a thick tweed jacket, which sits in just at the hips and complete the look with a longer length scarf just draped around the neck. Smaller style handbags to carry down by your side are a popular choice with this look.

Scallop Detailing

Try wearing a blouse with a simple scalloped collar, which will make you look and feel ultra feminine. Sometimes you will see jumpers with a scalloped collar in white, whereas the rest of the jumper is actually in pink, this is a great idea if you want to contrast your clothes without overdoing your style.

A Budding Romance

Perhaps youâ??re going out for a special occasion? A hot trend for next year is soft appliqué dresses, dress them up for a perfect evening out with friends and family, or you can even dress them down and team them up with a pair of chunky boots, perfect for a shopping trip or school run. Accessorising with flowers will be popular too, so why not get a few clip in flowers that you can clip into your hair for a special night out. Or, buy a flowered corsage to attach to a plain black suit jacket for added colour and femininity.

The temperature outside is dropping, and snow is imminent, so it’s time to get those winter woollies out and really wrap up for the winter. The best accessory you can wear to keep warm, but also look stylish, is a scarf. Scarves never go out of fashion and can be quite inexpensive to purchase. You’ll see all your favourite celebrities wearing scarves with their outfits this season, and they can really help make an outfit more unique and fashionable.

One way to wear a scarf, which is by far the most popular, is to wrap it loosely around your neck, and leave a long length at the front and back. This casual look will go well with a pair of jeans, blazer and a pair of heels, or a pair of shorts and pumps. If you want to wear your scarf like this for a more formal occasion, just tie it a bit tighter. The great thing about scarves is that they come in all types of material, from knitted to silk, and colours and patterns to co-ordinate with any outfit.

Another style to wear your scarf is in a full loop. Some womens scarves can actually be found already in this style, so you can just adjust them to suit your own personal preference. This circle style scarf can be worn casually with a pair of jeans, or with a dress for a night out or special occasion. The thicker the material of the scarf, the warmer it will keep you during the Fall season, so prepare yourself well for the season ahead.

Create another fresh look for your scarf by folding it in half and pulling the ends through the hole. This will give it a shorter style, which will be guaranteed to keep you warm, during the freezing cold weather. Wear this look for an everyday style or for a more formal event. Alternate the material, depending on where you are wearing your scarf. To keep it casual, team this style of scarf with a top and a pair of leggings and wedges. As a look for a night out, wear your scarf with a dress and pair of heels. Scarves are the ultimate accessory for your outfit, so adapt it for any occasion.

If you want to add a touch of Hollywood glamour to your outfit, wrap a silk scarf around your head and tie it at your neck. This style will instantly make your look more sophisticated and special, and can be worn as part of a classy outfit such as a crisp white blouse, pencil skirt and pair of heels.

A more casual alternative to this, is to wear a long scarf wrapped around your head, with the long ends draped down at your front. This style goes well with a tied-up hairdo, for a look you can wear as part of an everyday outfit, such as a pair of jeans or shorts, depending on the weather. To add extra glamour to this style, wear it in a strong pattern or print, and combine it with an oversized handbag.

The snow has arrived early this year and is set to continue for weeks to come, so you need to make sure you are dressed up warm to brace the change in weather.

Layering

The first thing to do is create some comfortable layering, which will keep you warm as the temperature continues to drop. Start with your underwear. They may not be the most attractive, but thermals are a good way to keep you well insulated, and they will also last for a long time. The next layer should be a t-shirt or top in a light fabric, which will make you feel comfortable and will stop moisture getting to your body. You should then add a chunky knitted jumper over the top of this. Choose one which will keep you warm and cosy, but won’t irritate your skin. Lastly, you should put on a well insulated winter jacket, to keep you adequately covered, and protected from the winter weather. The good thing about layering is that if you get too warm, you can simply remove one of your layers.

Winter Accessories

Winter accessories are extremely important to keep you protected from the cold, and the areas which we tend to forget about. A hat will keep your head warm, and keep the wind and snow from your head, preventing the moisture from reaching you. There are lots of stylish hats to choose from, including beanie hats, cable knit and those which have flaps to cover your ears. You can also add ear muffs for further protection. A scarf is another important winter accessory, which will keep the cold and wind from your neck and prevent it getting to the rest of your body. If you want to splash out, then a cashmere scarf is a good choice, however, there are many other styles, such as woollen and silk, which are a less expensive alternative. The mustard and black luxury pashmina picture above makes a stylish addition to any wool coat.  Wrap the scarf around your neck loosely for a casual everyday look, or tighter for a style to wear for a night out. Lastly, you want to ensure your hands are kept nice and warm, by adding a pair of gloves to your outfit. Knitted or thermal gloves will give good protection, and stop the moisture getting to the rest of you.

Boots

When the conditions are freezing, you need to swap your heels for a pair of comfortable boots for everyday wear. Some of the important trends for Winter 2010, are biker boots, aviator and long length boots, which will ensure you still look stylish. When the snow is falling, it’s always best to wear boots with a small heel, and a sole which will create a good grip on the surface.

Winter Coat

The winter coat is by far the most essential investment for your wardrobe, during the freezing cold weather. Some styles to look out for this season, are the aviator and military trends, duffle coat, parka and fur coat. The winter coat is the final piece of your layering, so should be heavy enough to make sure you are kept warm and well insulated.

Much of the UK is covered in snow today or has at least had some snow and is experiencing temperatures in the minus figures. At first the snow is great fun but after a while it can start to lose its appeal. We all like to keep warm but the cold weather can take us by surprise resulting in us being less than prepared. With a little extra preparation you can get out and about and enjoy the cold weather. You can also keep really warm and look incredibly stylish. Here are top tips for warm and stylish clothes to keep you warm for this cold spell and the rest of the winter.

Knitwear

The thick and cosy of nature of knitwear makes it incredibly cosy and warm. It is also a great way fo adding texture to an outfit. Patterned knits are really on trend this winter and so is chunky knitwear. For a more subtle look you could also try layering thinner knits. Knitted dresses and thick tights are also great cosy winter outfits.

Fleeces

Fleece jackets are another great option for the winter. Look for fitted styles which and bright colours which combine comfort, warmth and style. If your coat is not quite warm enough, it is also a good idea to wear a thin fleece underneath for a really cosy outdoor outfit.

Layers

One of the most practical ways to keep warm in the winter is to layer pieces of clothing. It is then easy to add or remove a layer as required depending on the temperature. Thin layers usually work best as they don’t create too much bulk but you could try adding a thicker knitted layer on a really cold day.

Winter Coats

Of course when getting out and about in the cold weather a warm everyday coat is essential. There are all sorts of fashionable and very warm choices of winter coat to choose from this winter including faux fur, duffle coats and parkas. Choosing a versatile style means that you can wear it for a range of different occasions.

Hats, scarves and gloves

Heads, necks and hands all tend to get cold no matter how many jumpers you wear. Hats, gloves and scarves are a great addition to your winter coat in the cold weather and are also a great way to add some colour, pattern and texture to your look. Faux fur, animal prints and snowflake patterns are all really on trend this season and a great way to make a classic winter coat look fashionable. Mittens are also a very on trend choice to keep your hands warm this winter.

Sensible shoes or boots

When the ground is snowy and icy sensible shoes or boots are a must. if you need to wear smart shoes for work wear boots and change when you get there. There are all sorts of cosy shearling and faux fur boots in fashion at the moment. A warm and woolly pair of socks is also a good idea to keep your toes really toasty.

It is a common misconception that to be stylish, you have to spend a fortune on the latest trends, but you can still look fashionable no matter what size your budget is.

Doing a bit of research on the Internet and magazines can help you establish which trends to follow. This season some of the main trends are animal prints, floral and leather. If you look around you can pick up some great fashion pieces in the sales and in charity shops. Take some inspiration from celebrities, and copy their styles, without the heavy price tag!

Imitation leather, for instance, can still look as good as the real thing and you can pick up these items at lower prices. You would probably be surprised to discover all the clothes hiding in your wardrobe, that you had forgotten all about. Trends tend to go through a cycle, so you may find some hidden gems if you have a good look through all your old clothes. You can mix and match these to create a great look. If you have to, buy one key item in trend at the moment and try alternating it with the pieces you already have. For instance, you probably have a smart suit hanging up in your wardrobe, so why not team this with a stylish animal print blouse or top. A leather skirt is a key trend, which you can probably co-ordinate with many of the tops you already own. This will save you money, and means you can get a good clear out at the same time.

These days, there are lots of money saving websites, which offer discounts in various women’s clothing stores. A google search on the Internet, will take you to these sites where you can print out vouchers, or enter codes if you are shopping online. Shops are crying out for customers at the moment, so it’s a good idea to look around and hunt down the bargains.

Another option is to round up your friends and hold a clothes swapping party. They may have clothes which don’t fit them any more or that they just don’t want, and vice versa. It’s a great way to save yourself some money, and again you can always buy one key trend and alternate it with the clothes you pick up at the party.

You’d also be surprised at the difference some accessories can make to your style. Dressing up your outfit with some glamorous costume jewellery, will not only make it look more expensive, but you can also use it to adapt your outfit to the occasion. If the occasion is a formal event, then you want to keep your jewellery quite minimal and classy, whereas for everyday wear, you can get away with chunky women’s  jewellery, and lots of it. This helps if you are on a budget, as it means you can wear the same outfits over and over, by making them look completely different, depending on the accessories you wear with them.

Choosing the perfect pair of shoes to go with your outfit is essential to keep you looking stylish and trendy over the autumn and winter months. There is a wide range of fabulous styles at the moment, in colours and prints which will guarantee you look good for all different occasions. Keep your look fresh and comfortable with some of these classic trends:

If you are choosing an everyday look for the office, black wedge shoes or boots will look great teamed up with a figure fixing a-line skirt or a pair of women’s trousers and blouse or top. Classic court shoes and ankle boots are also very stylish at the moment, and will help keep your look smart and sophisticated for work. Kitten heels are also a trendy look for this season and come in a wide range of styles, including the on trend animal print. The heel is small enough to ensure you are still comfortable, without compromising your look. Kitten heels will look great teamed up with a belted or stylish empire line dress for the office.

When out with the girls shopping or having lunch, a pair of black knee high boots are on trend at the moment, and are ideal with a pair of jeans or leggings and a long length top. During the cold weather, you want to be comfortable and well insulated, so a pair of stylish wedge fur boots or biker boots are an ideal choice for autumn/winter 2010. UGG boots are a more expensive choice, but will see you through the years, and will keep your feet well protected in all weathers. These types of boots will look stylish with a chunky knitted dress, and a belt to accentuate your waist.

If you are looking for shoes for a special night out or party, a pair of studded wedge boots will look fabulous with your classic little black dress or a stylish pair of leather trousers. Peep toe shoes are a great trend for autumn/winter 2010 and come in a wide range of styles to suit many different outfits. Colour trends to look out for this season are camel, deep purple and charcoal grey. Choose shoes with a bow or a bit of sparkle, to create a more expensive and glamorous look.

As we are quickly heading towards the Christmas period, the chances are you will be starting to look for that perfect outfit for all the parties and nights out you will be attending. A pair of multi strap diamanté heels will look great with a gorgeous sequin bandage or slash neck dress and a classic pair of peep toe platform shoes will elongate your legs and give your height an extra boost. A pair of on trend wedge shoes are ideal to team up with a floor length maxi dress or tunic dress.

Complete any look with the latest aviator jacket trend and a stylish clutch bag, to make sure you are trendy throughout the winter seasons, no matter what the occasion.
