How to choose the perfect wedding dress
Your wedding day is without a doubt one of the most special times in your life, so it’s no wonder that you want to make sure your dress is stunning, and unique from others. There are a few things you need to consider before you choose the perfect wedding dress for your special day.
Budget
It is a good idea to work out exactly how much you can allow yourself to spend on your wedding dress. Weddings themselves are extremely costly, so sit down and work out your expenditure for the big day. Some dresses are expensive, but there are also plenty of cheap wedding dresses to choose from, no matter what size of budget you have.
 Type of Wedding
The type of wedding dress you choose should match the type of wedding you are having. If you are opting for the traditional wedding, then usually brides would choose colours in white, or ivory, but there are no rules on this any more. If you feel more comfortable wearing a different colour, then don’t let tradition stand in your way, after all it’s your special day and it’s important you feel confident and happy in whatever colour you choose. Also take into account the time of the year, if the wedding is during autumn or winter, then it might be best to choose fabric which will keep you warm. If you are getting married during the summer, then light fabric may be more appropriate.
Body Shape
It is important to determine your body shape, prior to choosing your wedding dress, as this can make or break your look. Luckily, there are various styles which will suit a wide variety of body shapes. Ball gowns are the more extravagant of styles, and have a full skirt usually with a fitted bodice style top half. The skirt can hide a multitude of sins, so is likely to suit any shape from athletic to pear shaped. The top half of the dress will accentuate this area, so is great if you want to show off your cleavage. If you are very petite then this might not be the style for you due to it’s fullness, which can be too heavy on a smaller frame.
A line style and empire line style wedding dresses will also flatter most body shapes. The style skims the hips and thighs, so will not cling to much to the areas many of us have problems with. Both of these styles are elegant and will ensure you look fabulous for your special day.
Styles which are more suitable for slim body shapes are column and fish tail designs. Both of these are quite figure hugging, so if you don’t feel completely comfortable with your body, then these might be styles to avoid. If you have quite a petite frame, then these styles can be quite good as they won’t swamp your frame.
If you choose to wear a train with your wedding dress, there are different lengths you can use. Duster style and medium trains are of lengths which are easy to manoeuvre with, whereas a cathedral style is very long, and may require help from others to carry it.
You may want to team up your wedding dress with a shrug or bolero, both of which are very stylish at the moment.
