In New York each autumn at Bridal Fashion Week, designer wedding dresses are shown and help to shape the bridal trends for the year ahead. Other key influences on bridal trends include red carpet dresses and also key trends in the pret a porter collections for the season. Whilst some brides want to have the latest style of wedding dress others will prefer to opt for a simple and classic style that does not go out of fashion like this beaded ivory wedding dress with lace. One of the most classic styles of wedding dress is a simple bodice with an a line skirt. The bodice is often decorated with beading, lace or another embellishment.

Claire Pettiborne’s collection of  wedding dresses was inspired by Asian dresses with pink embellishment. Shorter styles of wedding dress are also a great look, shown at Alfred Angelo and Peter Langner, that will work particularly well for summer weddings. Designers like Reem Acra, Angel Sanchez and Maggie Sotero all featured off the shoulder styles of dress. Beautiful layers of net and tulle were also a key feature of wedding dresses for the season, they were seen at Amsdale, Jewel,  Christos and Romona Keveza. The most common silhouettes for the season were tight and fitted bodices flowing out into beautiful and elaborate skirts.

This year, crystal embellishments were inspired by snowflakes and winter wonderlands. As always romance was one of the biggest trends on the bridal catwalks with ruffles, lace and flower details. This mirrored some of the trends seen on the main fashion runways. Asymmetrical dresses have been quite popular for a while and were also spotted on the bridal runways again. Tulle and spaghetti straps were also very popular.

Weddings are the perfect time for wearing a really extravagant dress and may be the only chance that a women ever gets to wear something so beautiful. Most women choose a white, ivory or cream but lately more women are choosing individual looks in completely different colours like red, black or nude tones.

The elaborate dresses of recent red carpet events are particularly influential on bridal wear this season as many of them almost seemed to have a bridal theme with plenty of whites and nude tones some with trains sweeping across the floor. They also featured elaborate beading and lots of frills.

In contrast to the traditional bridal up hair do’s, this year looks set to be the year that brides wear their hair down in beautiful and natural hairstyles. Headpieces including pill box hats inspired by Jackie O and fascinators were all evident on the catwalks. Some of the dresses were also accessorised with gloves, Jackie O style. Audrey Hepburn’s style and Hollywood Glamour of the forties and fifities are also look to be key influences. Other looks included head pieces inspired by the retro bird cage veils at Amsdale, feathered headbands at Melissa Sweet, vintage crystal headbands at Jenny Packham, wide brimmed veiled hats and Carolina Herrera and masses of netting at Oscar De La Renta.

Unusually jewellery was quite a feature and the dresses were accessorised with bold necklaces or Earrings at Caroline Herrera,  Reem Acra and Douglas Hannant.

I bought this dress and i think it absolute stunning. The quality is very good, and it was delivered within 3 days .I got this in the sale and so i paid very little for it which means that the money that was saved can go towards another good cause for the wedding. The only thing that i found was that i loved the shoes that the model was wearing, i rang the customer help line to try and get some info on them and found the lady on the phone was not in the least bit helpfull at all. I now can’t wait to get married now…
