Florals

Floral patterns are a pretty common sighting in spring and summer collections. This year along with the usual abstract florals, there will be some really bright floral prints that are sure to make the wearer the centre of attention. Inspired by the beautiful florals seen on the catwalk at the Erdem, Dolce and Gabbana, Etro, Rochas and Matthew Williamson catwalk shows, florals will be romantic, colourful and eyecatching. This floral printed shift dress is the perfect way to wear this trend.

Military

The military trend is one that comes back again and again. Any military style pieces that you buy will be a great investment as they are sure to be in fashion in plenty of years to come. This trend was seen on the catwalk at Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Celine, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and countless others. The key to this trend is khaki colours, muted camoflage prints and tailored military style pieces with military detailing. This double breasted military jacket is a very wearable version of this trend.

Stripes

Blue and white breton stripes are another classic look that is back in fashion again this year. It is impossible not to look chic in this nautical or French style which was seen on the catwalk at Erin Wasson, Karen Walker and Margaret Howell. The release of the Coco Avant Chanel film has also gone some way to fuelling this trend with nautical stripes being a favourite of Coco Chanel. This is such an easy look to wear, navy trousers teamed with a blue and white striped top and cardigan and accessorised with a little gold jewellery. This diagonal striped top is a flattering and slimming version of the seasons striped top.

Safari

Cool safari style coats and shorts are a great look for summer. Beige, neutrals and sandy colours are also huge this year, perfect for keeping cool under the hot African sun. On the catwalk Celine, Oscar De La Renta, Chloe and Elie Tahara all had there own versions of this trend. Why not try mixing your safari neutrals with some graphic African prints? This safari style coat is just right for those who love an adventure.

The great thing about spring and summer 2010 is that almost anything goes. You can try mixing up different trends and patterns for  a really eclectic and fresh look. How about a floral top and a polka dot cardigan or striped trousers. You can also clash colours for a really bold look. Why not give it a try and see how it looks.
